Police say a man who may have been trying to commit suicide was pinned beneath a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train at Brentwood station Wednesday.
The man was struck at the Fourth Street crossing, where he was pinned beneath a westbound train. Rescue workers from Brentwood and Islip spent 20 minutes lifting train wheels off the man?s legs.
The victim was rushed to Stony Brook Hospital where one of his legs was amputated. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
