Dozens of puppies in need of homes have made their way to Long Island from puppy mills all over the country.
Fifty-six puppies and some older dogs recently rescued from Kansas and Missouri are now at The North Shore Animal League. Shelter Director Sylvia Ottaka says most of the dogs are not used to being touched, but says that shouldn?t deter prospective parents.
?People just have to understand that these dogs are special,? Ottaka says.
Ottaka expects all the puppies to be gone within the next few days.
