The ousted athletic director at Stony Brook University was forced out of his position because female coaches and athletes complained about inappropriate behavior, according to reports.

ESPN reports that Jim Fiore, the athletic director at Stony Brook University for more than a decade, was accused of sexual harassment, retaliation, misappropriation of university resources and interrogating people about their sexuality.

"The anonymous, 'kitchen sink' allegations that have been made against me are absolutely false," Fiore said in a statement. "I cannot help but think that the motives of the unnamed sources serve no purpose other than someone's obvious financial gain and to hurt me personally and professionally. I will vigorously fight these bogus claims and defend my reputation."

Faculty at Stony Brook University told News 12 that they are not allowed to talk about Fiore's departure. Many said they did not believe the ESPN report is credible.

After his departure last week, Fiore issued a statement saying the university bought out the remainder of his contract for $800,000, but wouldn't say why.

The university has not filed any disciplinary charges against Fiore.
