A North Hempstead official will resign after raising eyebrows over the amount of overtime earned.
Highway Superintendent Thomas Tiernan will step down Tuesday, according to Newsday.
News 12 has learned the town is investigating his department's use of overtime after he collected $134,000 in overtime in five years. Last year, Tiernan made nearly $39,000 in overtime.
According to Newsday, Tiernan is the only town highway official on Long Island receiving overtime.
