A new report by Forbes Magazine found that New Yorkers pay the most in taxes out of any state in the country.
Pat Friedman, of the Nassau Nonpartisan Tax Revolt Coalition, says local governments need to cut spending and taxes or people will be priced out of the region.
New Yorkers paid around 12.7 percent of their income to cover state and local tax bills in 2015, according to the report.
Rounding out the top three most-taxed states were Connecticut and New Jersey.
The state with the lowest taxes in 2015 was Alaska, which has no state income tax.
