On Long Island, being considered middle class may cost more than you think.
In the bankrupt city of Detroit, the median income is $30,000, according to a new "Planet Money" report.
In New York City, you have to earn at least $57,000 to have a median income.
According to Newsday, it is even higher on Long Island. In Suffolk County, you need to make $87,763 and in Nassau County, a median income is $97,690.
