The cost of the average PSEG Long Island bill is expected to rise by $2.56 in the new year, according to Newsday.
Even though electric use on Long Island is expected to drop, LIPA is still paying bills for storm costs.
The oversight committee says it is also paying to improve electric reliability.
The LIPA board has scheduled public hearings in Hauppauge and Uniondale on Nov. 28.
