Rep. George Santos appoints himself as campaign treasurer after staffer resigns
Embattled Third District Rep. George Santos has named himself the treasurer of his own campaign committee.
This comes after the congressman's treasurer resigned from the position.
It has been over a week since Rep. Santos was indicted on federal charges, including wire fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Santos defended the move on Twitter saying it was to ensure compliance and that he will "continue to build our campaign around professionals with subject matter expertise."
