Democrats from Nassau County and Washington D.C. came out in full force Monday night to pay tribute to Rep. Carolyn McCarthy.
She was honored at the Democratic Spring Dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
McCarthy, who is battling lung cancer, recently announced that she will not seek re-election and that she will retire by the end of the year.
More than 1,200 people came to honor McCarthy and the impact she's made as a congresswoman in the past 18 years.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi was one of the special guests at the dinner.
