News 12 Long Island got a sneak peak at a rendering model of a $1 billion waterfront development plan in Glen Cove.
Architect Rick Parisi says Garvies Point is a 60-acre residential and mixed-use project with retail and a restaurant.
"Of the 60 acres, 28 acres is open space and 21 acres is waterfront open space," says Parisi.
The architect says the project includes restored wetlands, a 10,000-square-foot playground, an amphitheater and an area that will be called "Sunset Beach."
The first phase of the project is slated to begin in October and will be built out over a period of 24 months.
Residents have expressed concerns about the project, saying it will bring pollution and increased traffic to the area.
