Records show George Santos' sister owes $40,000 in unpaid rent at Elmhurst apartment he listed as his address
Team 12 Investigates has learned that Tiffany Santos, the sister of Rep.-elect George Santos, is facing eviction from her Elmhurst apartment—which Santos listed as his address on campaign finance loans.
George Santos was reportedly spotted moving his belongings into the Elmhurst apartment on Queens Boulevard in late December, but three weeks earlier, the property owners filed a motion to evict his sister for allegedly owing nearly $40,000 in unpaid rent. They claim she has not paid rent since March 2020.
A form filed with the Federal Election Commission lists the building at 90-02 Queens Boulevard as his mailing address.
According to court records obtained by Team 12 Investigates, Tiffany Santos applied for and received more than $30,000 in July for rent relief through the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) that was created during the pandemic.
Despite receiving that rental assistance, her landlords claim she owes them $39,450 in unpaid rent which has been "entirely ignored and unpaid."
A landlord ledger attached to the court motion shows all of the rent charges and late fees Tiffany Santos allegedly accrued from March 2020 through December 2022. Meanwhile, George Santos loaned his own campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Rep.-elect George Santos has previously faced eviction himself.
Over the summer, he abruptly moved out of his home in Whitestone where he was registered to vote.
The news is in contrast with George Santos’ claims that his family owns multiple properties.
In a tweet, he railed against laws that protected renters, writing, “Will we landlords ever be able to take back possession of our property?”
It is unclear if Santos is currently living or ever lived with his sister in Elmhurst. However, he listed the Elmhurst apartment as his address on a campaign finance loan of $500,000 to his committee.
FEC filings also show lavish campaign spending – including over $100,000 on flights, restaurants and hotels.
There is also a charge in early September of $3,500 for an apartment rental for staff paid to “Cleaner 123 Inc.” – which is said to be based in Huntington.
News 12 reached out to George Santos again on Thursday and he did not respond for comment.
Attorneys for the property owners, 90-02 QB HOLDINGS, LLC., could not be reached by the time of this report.
The attorney for Tiffany Santos told Team 12 Investigates over the phone that they have no comment.
Santos’ sister has a court appearance next month in Queens Civil Court.
The Rep.-elect already admitted to lies on his resume.
He is being investigated on the federal, state and county levels.
