Rally held in Lindenhurst to stop Catholic school's closure

Dozens of parents, children and community members gathered in Lindenhurst today to rally against the closure of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Lindenhurst.
The school is one of six on Long Island that are slated to be closed at the end of the school year.
"I'm really sad because I've been here since I was 3 years old," says fifth grade student Sara Rutkowski. "Now that I think it's closing down, it makes me really sad and my heart is broken."
The other schools set to be closed are St. Catherine of Siena School in Franklin Square, St. John the Baptist de LaSalle Regional School in Farmingdale, Sacred Heart in North Merrick, St. Ignatius Loyola in Hicksville and Prince of Peace in Sayville.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre, which oversees the schools, says the decision is final and it will not reverse it.
