Rains flood LI roadways, thousands lose power

The heavy rains that caused major flooding on local roadways Wednesday have moved east of the Island, into the Atlantic.There may be some isolated showers and thunderstorms this evening, but nothing severe.

The heavy rains that caused major flooding on local roadways Wednesday have moved east of the Island, into the Atlantic.There may be some isolated showers and thunderstorms this evening, but nothing severe.

Meanwhile, service remains suspended on some Long Island Rail Road lines due to flooding. Click here for the latest information on LIRR delays.
The Long Island Power Authority estimates more than 9,300 customers are without power as of 5:00 p.m. LIPA Chairman Richard Kessel says that number is down from 42,000 at the beginning of the storm.
