Officials say a rabid raccoon has been found in Nassau County. 
The Nassau County Health Department says the raccoon was recently trapped in Hicksville and tested positive for rabies.
It has been 9 years since rabid raccoon was found in Nassau.
Officials are telling residents to make sure pets are vaccinated, even if they're not exposed to raccoons. 
In addition, officials say to call the health department if you see a dead or sick raccoon so it can be tested.
