A Putnam County man is dead after being hit by a car just over the New York border.

Connecticut State Police said 34-year-old Adam Peppe of Brewster was outside his vehicle on I-84 in Farmington when he was struck by a van.

Peppe later died at the hospital. An 8-year-old girl was in the vehicle but was not hurt.

Another person and the van driver suffered minor injuries.
