Long Island residents may see a drop in their electric bill this month.
PSEG Long Island acknowledges that over the past few months, customers have paid more due to a rise in energy costs during a long, hard winter.
The utility's power supply charge portion of the bill has gone up for ratepayers in each of the last six months. The company now says that number is about to go down.
While the rate will still fluctuate month to month, the company announced by email Wednesday that the power supply charge will decrease by more than 15 percent in April.
Energy market analysts say the amount is about right for this time of year, but warn that the downward trend may not last for more than a few months.
