Long Island's new power operator will get the first test of its storm response capabilities this week, courtesy of a snowstorm that's making its way toward the area.

PSEG Long Island officially took over LIPA operations Wednesday. President Dave Daly says the company has a three-point plan to win over customers: improving customer satisfaction, improving electrical grid reliability and improving storm response capability.

Daly says PSEG has new technology to help with storm response, including using social media in expanded call centers to help get information out faster to customers. PSEG also has all its employees on storm duty.

Customers say they're going to wait and see how PSEG is able to handle storm response.
