Developers today made their final pitches on how they'd make over the Nassau Coliseum and its surrounding area.
Four developers are vying for the chance to either rebuild or refurbish the property. They pitched their plans to the Long Island Real Estate Group today.
The Forest City Ratner Group made changes to its initial proposal. The group now wants to build an ice skating rink and amphitheater near the Coliseum.
The Town of Hempstead rezoned the property in 2011 so developers would know what could be built on the land. A new coliseum, hotels and a conference center are among the permitted structures.
Town Supervisor Kate Murray says none of the four proposals seem to raise any red flags.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano says he will make his final decision by July 15 after an advisory commission makes its recommendation.
