A probation violator is in police custody following an 11-hour standoff in Wading River Wednesday.
Authorities say members of the Deputized U.S. Marshal Fugitive Apprehension team visited the home of 46-year-old Wade Booth to issue a warrant for a probation violation. Booth, who failed to undergo psychiatric, psychological and medical evaluations as per his probation agreement for assaulting a police officer, responded by firing a weapon at a Suffolk detective.
Investigators say Booth has a history of domestic violence with his 77-year-old blind father, Rudolph, who he lives with and cares for. Police were called to the home in 2005 after Booth allegedly pushed his father to the floor when Rudolph asked to be taken to the hospital.
