A Roman Catholic priest from Farmingdale arrested on drug charges told police he's been smoking crack cocaine since his sister's death.

Robert Lubrano was conditionally released to probation with the Substance Treatment Evaluation Program.

According to police, they saw Lubrano purchase crack cocaine from a suspected drug dealer this morning outside the Bethpage Motel on Hempstead Turnpike. Police say they found crack cocaine on Lubrano as well as a crack pipe.

In court, it was revealed that when police approached Lubrano, he told them "I have been smoking crack cocaine ever since my sister was murdered."

News 12 Long Island has learned Lubrano's sister, Pat Ward, 66, was decapitated in her Farmingdale apartment by her mentally ill son in October 2014.

Lubrano was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect dealer, Michael Oyola, of the Bronx, was also arrested and is being charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was released on a desk appearance ticket and told to return to court on Jan. 25.

A spokesperson for the Diocese of Rockville Centre says Lubrano has been on authorized leave. The spokesperson says he had been helping out recently by celebrating Masses at a few parishes, including Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Wyandanch.
