Drivers are hoping that gas prices could stabilize after oil prices dropped below $100 a barrel.
Long Islanders are frustrated that prices at the pump seemed to remain the same Tuesday even though the price of oil dropped 8% on Monday.
AAA Northeast senior manager Robert Sinclair Jr. says it will be slow to see prices for gas decrease.
"Prices go up like a rocket, and come down like a feather," Sinclair Jr. says. "And interestingly – when the prices come down, retailers are making money, the next delivery comes in, it's cheaper, and keeps prices at the pump higher than what the delivery costs him or her."
AAA also says they are hopeful that gas prices have hit a plateau, but the relief at the pump might not last long because of hurricane season and Memorial Day weekend coming up
