President Donald Trump has signed an order establishing an emergency board to investigate contract negotiations between the LIRR and five unions.

Under the Railway Labor Act, the board has 30 days to review the disputes and report back.

It may delay a strike to as far as May 2026.

The MTA is offering the union a 9.5% raise over the next 3 years. The union is asking for 16% over four years.
