President Donald Trump is reversing course on schools and is now saying some may not be able to fully open in the fall.
President Trump said districts in some virus hot spots may need to delay reopening for a few weeks. The president says that decision should fall to governors, but still insisted schools should make an effort to be ready.
Trump has made opening schools a key priority as he looks to restart the economy, but his push has put him at odds with many health officials.
Updated guidance from the CDC urged school leaders to work with officials to make decisions about the fall -- taking into account the virus’s rate of transmission in the area.             
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to hand down the school decision in the first week of August.
