The Poughkeepsie Fire Department will test the city fire hydrant system this week.

City officials say all residents who use city water will be impacted at some point this week, as the system is directly linked to the drinking water supply.

Starting today, your water may be discolored. Officials say it is still safe but should be run until it is clear.

You should also use caution when doing white laundry. Officials recommend you wait 24 to 48 hours after testing near your neighborhood is done.
