Thousands of people are snapping so-called "selfies" while behind the wheel and posting them online.
Dr. Lucy Weinstein, the director of injury prevention at Winthrop Hospital, says distracted driving is a particular problem among teens. The Department of Transportation says distracted driving leads to more than 3,000 deaths per year.
Weinstein suggests parents get involved, providing incentives to teens that practice safe driving.
Walt Whitman High School senior Jonathan Simeone says he has been known to snap a "selfie" now and again. However, Simeone says that when it comes to getting behind the wheel, that's where he draws the line.
