Mostly sunny skies will take over across Long Island today, giving the region a nice taste of early spring. After a cool start this morning, temperatures will climb comfortably into the 50s for many locations, with spots along the North Shore even reaching the 60s this afternoon. With plenty of sunshine and light winds, it will be a pleasant day to spend some time outside. The warmer weather will also increase the tree pollen count.

Clouds will begin to increase tonight. As the night goes on, areas of fog are expected to develop toward daybreak, which could reduce visibility for the Tuesday morning commute in some spots. Overnight temperatures will stay relatively mild for this time of year, settling back into the 40s across much of Long Island.

For Tuesday, expect a mix of sun and clouds with partly sunny skies through much of the day. High temperatures will again reach the 50s and lower 60s, although communities along the shoreline will be a bit cooler thanks to the ocean breeze. By Wednesday, skies turn mostly cloudy and a few late-day showers may develop. Afternoon highs will remain in the 50s, keeping conditions fairly mild despite the increasing clouds.
