A desperate search has been launched for a missing therapy dog in Port Jefferson.
Michael Renna says his yorkie named "Tattoo" has been missing for nearly two weeks. He says that life has been tough since retiring from the NYPD, undergoing four heart operations in the past three years.
Renna's girlfriend Traci Rivera says Tattoo is more than just a dog.
"He's gone through some tough times between his heart surgeries," says Rivera. "He was in a car accident, in a coma for 45 days - so [Tattoo] really brought a lot of light to him, a lot of love."
The couple says that in the past two weeks, they have handed out more than 5,000 fliers and created a Facebook page that has nearly 3,000 members.
According to the Facebook page, the dog went missing on March 15 in the area of Terryville Road in the Port Jefferson Station and Terryville area.
Renna says they are offering a $2,000 reward for anyone who has information that brings Tattoo home.
