Police say one person has died and another was injured in a wrong-way crash in Medford.
Police say Edward A. Thornlow was driving a sedan westbound in the eastbound lanes of Expressway Drive South when the vehicle collided with a truck heading southbound on Horseblock Road around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Thornlow, 54, of Shirley, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck, Christopher J. Samson, 58, of Bayport, was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded.
News 12 spoke to a witness who said he pulled over along the service road last night to fix something and saw someone going the wrong way. The witness said he tried to stop the accident from happening.
“Those lights were moving at me. I figured, that’s a car going in the wrong direction. So, I started to blink my lights because I was on the shoulder. Completely on. Completely off, on. It never slowed down. I watched it go by, doing about 40, even up to 50 miles an hour, didn't hit the brakes till he went this way," the witness told News 12.
That witness says he was going to speak to police about what he saw.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
