Police say that a woman died this morning and her husband was injured after their car crashed into a disabled vehicle on the LIE.

Police say their 2003 GMC Yukon veered into the right shoulder and struck a 1997 Dodge pickup truck that was parked on the side of the expressway between exits 61 and 62 at 4:30 a.m. The Dodge was unoccupied.

Stacie Polashek, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver Matthew Polashek, 38, was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Westbound lanes on the LIE were closed for hours as police investigated the accident. All lanes have since been reopened.
