22h agoAuthorities have arrested a man accused in a fatal shooting in North Bellport.
Shati Smith, of Westbury, was arrested on June 15 in Virginia as a fugitive from justice for the murder of Lee Houpe.
Police say Smith shot Houpe, who was standing outside of his home, and then drove away.
Houpe was taken to the hospital where he died.
Smith will be brought back to Suffolk County after appearing in court in Virginia on Wednesday.
He will be charged with second degree murder.
