Police: Victoria's Secret shoplifter used pepper spray on officers
A woman, who originally used a false identity, is accused of stealing merchandise from a Nassau lingerie shop, and then using pepper spray and assaulting officers who attempted to arrest her.
Nassau police say 31-year-old Latoya Moe, of Brooklyn, took merchandise valued around $1,100 from the Victoria's Secret store on Old Country Road in East Garden City.
Police say that when they located Moe, she sprayed pepper spray at two officers.
As they tried to place her under arrest, they say the refused to place her hands behind her back, and "began kicking, biting, spitting and punching at officers."
Moe was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The officers involved were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries and were released.
Officials say Moe also used a false identity when she was arrested.
Moe is facing a slew of charges, including assault with intent to cause injury to a police officer, fourth-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing governmental administration with a spray device, resisting arrest, false personation and possession of burglar tools.
She was arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
