Police say a man has been arrested for assaulting a 7-Eleven employee just to get out of paying for a lighter.

The incident happened at the store on Jerusalem Avenue in Uniondale.

News 12 has been told William Alston walked in, walked behind the counter and tried taking a lighter.

When he tried leaving the store, police say he pushed a 49-year-old worker to the ground.

Alston is facing robbery and assault charges.
