Police: Truck hits railroad overpass in Massapequa, temporarily diverting traffic from East Sunrise Highway

Officials say traffic is being diverted to Old Sunrise Highway as East Sunrise Highway is closed.

A truck carrying heavy equipment hit a railroad overpass and overturned Wednesday afternoon on East Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, police say.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. near Carmans Road.

Officials say traffic was diverted to Old Sunrise Highway as East Sunrise Highway was temporarily closed. It has since reopened.

One person suffered a minor injury and was transported to a hospital, according to police officials.
