A minor fender bender in Levittown turned into a deadly hit-and-run Thursday.
Taranjit Parmar, of Levittown, was struck just after 5 p.m. Thursday on Hempstead Turnpike near Gardiners Avenue. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Surveillance video shows a red pickup leaving a parking lot and hitting Parmar’s Jeep on the Turnpike. The red pickup then backs up as Parmar pulls in to the lot to pull over.
Parmar exited the Jeep. The male driver struck her and ran her over as he fled the scene, according to police. The pickup driver headed eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. Police are now hunting for that driver and asking for witnesses to come forward.
Parmar lived a half-mile away from where she was struck. A spokesperson for Adelphi University says Parmar was in a joint degree program in dentistry with NYU.
