Suffolk police say a 17-year-old girl was shot in Bay Shore Tuesday night.

They say she was standing outside of a home on 2nd Ave. off Brook Street when someone in a car drove up and fired at least one shot and then sped away.

Officials say the girl was not seriously injured and was driven to the hospital by someone she knew.

Police say it is unclear if the teen was the intended target.
