Police are searching for the driver who hit an 18-year-old girl in Greenvale and took off from the scene, leaving her for dead.
According to detectives, the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. yesterday at the busy intersection of Glen Cove Road and Northern Boulevard.
Cops say the victim was on her way to Nassau Community College when she was struck by a black-colored four-door car with tinted windows. At the time of the accident, the car was traveling eastbound on Northern Boulevard, making a left turn onto northbound Glen Cove Road. The vehicle continued north on Glen Cove Road without stopping.
The victim was transported to a hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Police say the driver may have been speeding. They're hoping eyewitnesses, as well as video from red light cameras at the intersection, will help them locate the driver.
