A Hicksville teen is behind bars after police say he went on a crime spree Saturday.
It started early Saturday morning at an auto repair shop on Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville.
Police say Brayan Galiono Hernandez, 19, went through an unlocked garage and took off with a red Mercedes.
"It's kind of scary because this neighborhood is safe," said Jackie Stavropoulos, who works near the auto shop.
After that, police say Hernandez got into multiple car accidents. One of them happened near the corner of 1st Street and Frevert Place. That's where Hernandez was confronted by a witness.
Police say he hit that witness in the head with a cologne bottle before running off.
The story did not end there.
"The police came looking for him, then he came back to the house. He had an argument with someone inside," says Ricky Passi, who was working at the home where the suspect was arrested.
A short time later, Hernandez was found hiding out in a home on 5th Avenue.
Construction crews were doing some work on the house at the time. They got caught in the middle of it all.
"Some of them are scared, he used bad language. He threatened them," Passi said.
Hernandez is accused of threatening one of the workers with a construction level. He allegedly told one of the workers he was going to kill them, according to court documents.
Police eventually arrested Hernandez.
"It seems that something got out of control, he had a lot to drink. There is a litany of charges, we plead not guilty to each one of them," said Cornell Bouse, Hernandez's attorney.
Hernandez was charged with more than a dozen crimes, including burglary, assault and resisting arrest.
Bouse said Hernandez has no criminal record.
Hernandez is due back in court Nov. 15.
