Police are on the hunt for the suspect who they say fatally stabbed a woman in Holtsville Thursday night.
The victim was identified as 46-year-old Sandra McIntosh, of Medford. She was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she died.
A heavy police presence was in the area for around nine hours during an investigation.
According to police, a resident on Woodland Avenue heard McIntosh calling for help around 8 p.m. The resident found McIntosh, who was stabbed, near a wooded area on Woodland Avenue and called 911 around 8 p.m.
Police say the killer fled in the McIntosh's white car. Her family says it's a white Lexus 350.
McIntosh's family say the killer is someone she knew and they want him to turn himself in.
The victim's brother, Robert McIntosh, says she worked as a registered nurse at Stony Brook University Hospital and was also a flight attendant, and a fun, loving, caring mother, sister and daughter.
On Friday, Stony Brook University Hospital CEO Carol A. Gomes released a statement that reads, "Sandra McIntosh was a dedicated nurse and beloved member of the Stony Brook Medicine family. We are truly saddened at this senseless tragedy, and extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues."
