Police: Suffolk officer charged with menacing after pointing gun at women

According to police, Gregory Hanrahan, 32, became involved in an interaction with three females during which he pointed a handgun in their direction on West Main Street in Patchogue.

Officials say a Suffolk County police officer has been arrested and charged with menacing for an off-duty incident that occurred on Nov. 5.
According to police, Gregory Hanrahan, 32, became involved in an interaction with three females during which he pointed a handgun in their direction on West Main Street in Patchogue.
 
Hanrahan, a two-year member of the department, was assigned to the Seventh Precinct and was immediately suspended without pay, and his handguns were seized.
A department internal investigation is underway.
Hanrahan was charged with three counts of menacing in the second degree and is scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip today.
