Officials say an East End dad chased off a would-be home invader Friday.
Southampton police report that 56-year-old James McErlean Jr. broke into a house on Breese Lane yesterday, wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife.
A 21-year-old woman was inside the home during the invasion and alerted authorities.
Police say that when the woman's father arrived home during the invasion, he chased the suspect on foot until officers arrived. Police say they joined in the chase and used a Taser to subdue the suspect.
The young woman was hospitalized with injuries to her face and hand, police say.
McErlean is facing numerous charges including assault, menacing, attempted robbery and weapons possession. He has been ordered held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail.
