A Shirley man was arraigned Thursday on charges that he robbed a Shirley deli and burglarized two other businesses this month.
Police tell News 12 Blaise Marckesano, 38, injured an employee at Parkway Deli & Grocery on April 1 before taking off with beer.
That worker, Hidayhe Rahman, says Marckesano pushed him very hard during the robbery.
"This guy is not good for the community here, because today he did what he did with me, tomorrow he is going to something to another person," Rahman says.
News 12 has been told Marckesano also broke into the American Legion post in Mastic Beach twice, on April 13 and April 25, to steal cash.
First Vice Commander Vincent Mazzola says Marckesano stole $8,000 in cash. The money was for scholarships in veterans' names.
"It was upsetting," Mazzola says. "We're all about helping veterans, and it happened to us twice in the past month."
Police say Marckesano also stole merchandise from a Home Depot in Shirley.
He was arrested days after that robbery and faces numerous robbery and burglary charges.
Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney says Marckesano was indicted in February for allegedly stealing six catalytic converted in Wading River.
At his arraignment on Feb. 9, the judge ordered Marckesano to be placed on supervised release.
The judge on Thursday set bail at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
