Nassau police arrested a New Hyde Park man Saturday after they say they uncovered a weapons arsenal in his home.
Police say they seized nine illegal assault weapons from the house. They also recovered 23 rifles and five handguns that were legally owned.
Police say they received an anonymous tip about possible weapons cache in the home of Chandrakant Dhanak, 37, at 152 N. 6th St.
Detectives from the county's Special Investigations Squad and Homeland Security officials searched the home and found nine weapons in violation of the SAFE Act, according to police.
Dhanak was arraigned Sunday on nine counts of criminal possession of a firearm and released on $5,000 bail.
