Police are searching for the person who severely injured a man in a hit-and-run crash in Mastic.
Police confirm to News 12 that Troy Castro, 26, of Mastic, was hit while walking on Wood Avenue at around 2 a.m. yesterday.
A family member tells News 12 that they fear Castro could be partially paralyzed. He is listed in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital with severe neck and spinal injuries.
His uncle says he was coming from a party when he was hit and thrown 20 feet into a wooded area.
Suffolk police say they have recovered car parts from the vehicle involved and are working to figure out the exact make and model.
Detectives believe the vehicle that struck Castro may be a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Ford Fusion.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
