A manhunt is underway across Nassau and Suffolk for the suspect responsible for prompting school lockouts in three districts.

Suffolk police say it all started at 6:45 a.m. Friday with a violent domestic dispute on Main Street in East Islip. Sources tell News 12 the suspect, now identified as Bernard King, had a gun. Police say he fired three rounds into a door at the home on Main Street.

Nassau police joined the search shortly after because it was believed that King was hiding in a home in Massapequa.

That prompted a lockout in Lockhart, East Lake, McKenna and Ames schools in Massapequa. In Farmingdale, three schools were on lockout, including Albany Avenue Elementary, Woodward Parkway Elementary and Farmingdale High School.

Schools were eventually given the all-clear to lift the lockdown Friday afternoon when police believed King was no longer in the area.

Suffolk police say King has still not been caught.
