On Monday, police arrested 43-year-old Jose W. Funes-Zabala, who is charged with murder in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say the suspect became violent after learning the mother of his child was dating someone else.
" She was stabbed 34 times about the body," explained Detective Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, of the Nassau County Police Department. "Their son was there while the alleged assault took place. The child was not harmed."
