A Roosevelt man pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges and criminal possession of a weapon Wednesday after he was accused of firing shots near a middle school during a dispute over landscaping.
Police say 36-year-old Lennox London got into a fight with custodians who were doing landscaping around the property of Roosevelt Middle School around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Court documents say London was standing about 20 feet away from the man when he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and fired six shots at his intended victim.
Police say no one was injured in the shooting.
Sources tell News 12 that the 36-year-old is a suspected gang member.
Nassau police will not comment if London is a gang member, but they do say the gang unit is part of the investigation.
London is being held without bail.
