Police are investigating messages of hate scrawled on street signs in Cedarhurst.
Someone used what appears to be a magic marker to scrawl seven swastikas on four stop signs at the intersection of Roselle and 5th Avenue. Investigators are probing the incident, but said they believe the markings were made a while ago. Many residents said they hadn't noticed."We're all neighbors, it's so blatant," said Cedarhurst Trustee Ari Brown. "How can you miss it?"
Brown, who is the son of a Holocaust survivor, said the village won't tolerate the hateful markings in the predominately Jewish community. "We'll take whatever action necessary."
Those responsible could face bias crime charges that carry a sentence of one to four years.
