Police are investigating whether a series of attacks on women are related.
Authorities say a man forced his way into a woman's home on Lois Place in Lynbrook on Aug. 12 at around 8:45 p.m. They say he attempted to remove her pants and choked her. The victim called out for help and got the attention of a neighbor, who called police. Authorities say the suspect fled on a bicycle.
Police say a second assault occurred in nearby Valley Stream on the same day. Authorities say a 30-year-old woman was walking on Mill Road just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 12 when a man riding a bicycle grabbed the woman from behind. The victim ran, but the suspect caught up to her, pushed her to the ground and punched her in the face. Police say the man tried to rip off the victim's shirt and pin her to the ground, but she was able to fight him off. The suspect fled on his bicycle.
Authorities are investigating whether the two crimes were committed by the same man. They are also trying to determine if the attacks are connected to a rape on Sunday at Valley Stream State Park.
