A mysterious 911 call and body with no obvious signs of trauma have created a strange case for police in Merrick Wednesday.
According to officials, the investigation began with a 911 call that was placed before 9 a.m. Police say when they arrived at a home in response to the call, they found the 50-year-old owner alive, but unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police say the death is mysterious because the man, whose name is not being released, did not appear to be shot, stabbed or beaten. Officials are also investigating why the 911 call came from another house.
Homicide detectives are awaiting autopsy results before they can determine whether there was any foul play.
The victim's 7-year-old daughter and wife were home at the time. Officials say the girl is currently in the custody of other relatives.
