A mother and her child were injured when their vehicle crashed into a house in Ronkonkoma Tuesday.
Police say Luisa Ariza, 29, was driving out of her driveway on 15 Seusing Blvd. when she traveled across the street, onto the front lawn and partially into her neighbor's home at 9 Seusing Blvd.
The house was vacant during the crash, police say.
Neighbors say the incident was caused by Ariza's shoe getting stuck.
Ariza was airlifted to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Authorities say Ariza's 6-year-old daughter was transported by ambulance to the same hospital with minor injuries.
Editor's Note: An earlier version cited police believing the person injured was inside the house. Police now say the house was empty at the time of the crash.
